Up-and-coming Nigerian music artist, Bella Shmurda, was one of the few artists to grace the 14th Headies Awards event ceremony held in Lagos.

The crooner “CashApp” appeared on the red carpet ahead of the main event and made a grammatical blunder answering a question that made him trend on social media.

Bella Shmurda was asked by the red carpet host how he felt being nominated in the “Next Rated” category and Bella Shmurda responded, “I came here to chill..you know. I came here to do my thing. I didn’t came here for the award. I just came here to vibe”

Recall the Headies Awards held its 14th edition on February 21, 2021, and there were several guests in attendance observing social distance.

Much of the show was pre-recorded and the live event featuring nominees at Eko Hotels and Suites on Victoria Island in Lagos. The red carpet started at 5 p.m. while the main event started at 8 p.m.

The event was hosted by TV personality and actress Nancy Isime and comedian Bovi. This year is special as the event that takes place every December has been postponed to February.

However, this did not stop the show from going on, as earlier announcements saw Fireboy DML leading with nine nominations.

Davido and Wurld followed with seven nominations each, while Burna Boy, former Artist of the Year, had six nominations.

In a forward-looking step, this year also saw the Headies include Songwriter of the Year. The audience could enjoy themselves with performances by DJ Neptune, Fireboy, and the Cavemen. Omah Lay carted home the “Next Rated” award. (Continue reading & See the full list of winners here)
