Why We Assaulted INEC Zamfara Office – EFCC Talks On Revelation Of N65m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has spoken on the attack of Zamfara office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and disclosure of four Ghana must-go sacks loaded up with cash.

EFCC on Wednesday struck and removed four ‘Ghana-must-go’ packs containing cash to the tune of N65,548,000 at INEC office in Gusau in continuation of its examination over affirmed non installment of specially appointed staff who led the 2019 general political race.

Talking on the advancement, EFCC in a progression of posts on its official Twitter page, said the assault was done after an appeal by one of the INEC impromptu staff during the 2019 presidential and gubernatorial decisions in Zamfara State.

EFCC said the staff affirmed that the Adhoc INEC authorities were prevented installment from securing their N6,000 development recompenses each for the two races.

“The monies were stacked in two flame resistant safes during a pursuit led in workplaces of the HOD Accounts and Cashier of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Zamfara state.

“The cash is suspected to be 40% illicitly deducted on assets discharged to INEC Zamfara office to provide food for the lease of Canopies, Tables and Chairs and furthermore assets for RAC (Registration Area Center) and development of men and materials to Polling Units, by the HOD Accounts and Cashier.

“The assault pursued an appeal by one of the INEC specially appointed staff during the 2019 presidential and gubernatorial decisions in Zamfara State. The staff claimed that the Adhoc INEC authorities were precluded installment from claiming their N6,000 development stipends each for the two decisions.

“The suspects would be charged in court when examination is finished.”
