A student at the University of Benin in Edo state has attracted attention after being filmed speaking English with a neutral British accent.
The young man, identified simply as Aaron, claimed that he was born with it, and his father, an English teacher, had a significant influence on how he took the accent.
He rose to fame after being questioned by a female classmate who wanted to know what he thought of the female students in their department.
In a follow-up video, she asked him about how he managed to speak so fluently with a foreign accent.
He added that although he lives in Nigeria, he often watches BBC News and British TV, which has helped him perfect his British accent.
After graduating, Aaron said he is open to the possibility of working as a journalist or news reporter.
The UNIBEN student claimed that while he is capable of speaking Pidgin English, he prefers not to do so since his British accent makes it feel odd.
However, she asked Aaron to speak to her in pidgin to demonstrate his ability to communicate.
