The Nollywood film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of 33-year-old actress and entrepreneur, Gbemi Anjola.
The aspiring actress passed away on Friday, March 24th, 2023 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
According to reports reaching 9JaGistreel, Gbemi Anjola was diagnosed with the disease in 2021. As a result, she traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates for chemotherapy, which lasted about 6 months.
She returned to Nigeria cancer-free after undergoing medical treatment in Dubai, but on Friday, March 25th, 2023, Gbemi complained of memory loss and headaches and was admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead by the doctors on duty.
The news of her tragic death was shared by her colleagues Itele and Zainab Balogun, who mourned her on their respective Instagram pages.
Other Nollywood stars, including Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Kunle Afod, and Biodun Okeowo, expressed their condolences in the comment section.
