Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, has revealed the powerful meaning of her new and unique Muslim name, “Hajia Minnah”.
The actress, who recently converted to Islam a few months after marrying her Muslim husband, filmmaker Kazim Adeoti, explained the meaning of her name on her official Instagram page.
This follows the mixed reactions that trailed her name “Minnah” when some social media users chided her for allegedly modernizing the name “Aminat” or “Meenah”.
In response, the 45-year-old actress revealed that her name is Minnah, which means “Mercy and Gift from Allah.” She also revealed that the name was suggested to her by her husband and she loves it!
Mercy Aigbe also encouraged Muslim parents to name their daughters “Minnah” because it is a cute and unique name.
The mother of two wrote,
“I saw a lot of comments from some Muslims saying it’s Aminat, some said it’s ‘Meenah’ and Mennah is not a Muslim name etc 
I understand it’s not a common name so a lot of people aren’t used to it, it’s a powerful, sweet, unique name that’s why when hubby suggested it, I loved it
