Popular Nollywood actress and mother of four, Mercy Johnson, has questioned the reasons behind the sudden rise in egg prices.

It is no secret that Nigeria is currently struggling with inflation, which is causing the prices of basic necessities to rise significantly.

With that in mind, Mercy Johnson revealed in a video she shared on her official Instagram page that she was craving tea and decided to buy some bread and eggs to complement it.

However, she was concerned about the significant increase in the prices of both items, which was due to the exchange rate.

The Nollywood actress then wondered if the eggs were imported or if the chickens that laid them came from abroad.

In her opinion, the price increase is absurd because there is no direct connection between eggs and the value of the dollar.

The video in which she expressed these concerns sparked mixed reactions on social media with many internet users explaining the reasons for the increase, many cited the rising cost of chicken feed and other products used in poultry farming.

It is so sad but it is the painful current Shege reality of Nigeria now
