“Childhood Trauma Made Me A People Pleaser” – Actress Nancy Isime

Popular Nollywood actress and television presenter, Nancy Isime, has shared how her childhood trauma affected her as an adult.

In a conversation with Lilian Afegbai, the screen diva said the trauma she suffered as a child made her grow up to become a people-pleaser.

Speaking about her childhood, Nancy noted that she didn’t get the attention she needed as a child. According to her, she grew up wanting to please people.

“I don’t force myself on anybody. I used to be a people pleaser but that came from childhood trauma. It came from childhood trauma where you’ll be looking for attention as a child and you didn’t get it.

When you get older, you start waning people to like you. So even if it’s breaking you, even if you know that this person doesn’t like you and has said shit about you, you think maybe they can change their minds”. She said.

Speaking about how she overcame it, the Blood Sisters star said self-love helped her to stop becoming a people-pleaser.

In her words,

“But learning to love myself and being intuitive helped me to heal from being a people pleaser”.

I Suffered From Depression As A Child And Attempted Suicide

Popular Nigerian media personality and Nollywood actress, Nancy Isime, has made a shocking revelation about her childhood.

In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Nancy Isime revealed she lost her mother when she was 5 years old and growing up was hard.

Speaking further, the Nollywood actress stated that she suffered from depression as a child and even attempted to commit suicide.

According to her, some people have time to go through life but her case was different because she needed to be mature, and losing her mother at a very young age exposed her to a lot of things.

While speaking on her work experience, the Edo state born On Air Personality revealed that she started working at the age of seventeen with an ushering job and tried her hands-on modeling and acting to save enough money to leave Nigeria. (Watch the video here)
