The Delta North Senatorial District lawmaker, Prince Ned Nwoko has revealed why he married Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels.
The 63-year-old politician shed light on his union with the 23-year-old actress in an interview with Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, released on YouTube last week Saturday.
Despite a significant age difference, Mr Nwoko tied the knot with the actress on May 26, 2019, in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State.
In all sincerity, his popularity has skyrocketed since their union, especially among the younger generation due to the huge fan following of his wife.
Mr Nwoko shed light on their marriage, explaining:
“For her particularly, I married her because she is from my place. I wanted to marry a wife from my place and was looking for the right person and when I met her, I knew she must be the one.
“If you must hear this, I knew I wanted a wife from my place because I was under pressure from my family and the traditional rulers to marry someone from my place and Regina ticked all the boxes.”
Explaining the criteria he set for his future wife, he stressed the importance of finding someone who is independent and career-oriented.
The Senator said he had turned down his family’s offers to marry other girls from his community.
“Before Regina, my uncles brought some local girls and said, ‘You must marry this one or that one’, but I said they don’t meet the criteria of what I want.
“And I said to them, ‘Look, I am from a royal family; we have our requirements and traditions; I can’t marry a woman who is not a virgin…I can’t, and I wouldn’t.”
Narrating the first meeting with Regina Daniels, Mr. Ned Nwoko said: “I asked immediately we met if she was a virgin, and she said ‘Yes.’”
The lawmaker further explained his expectations, which include a devotion to sports, especially tennis and swimming, which are an integral part of his family’s lifestyle. According to the politician, Regina has unreservedly complied with these requirements and exceeded all expectations.
He said,
“I told her ‘Every member of my family must do sport.’ she said, ‘What sport?’ and I told her that you must play tennis and swim; everybody swims, everybody plays tennis. And she said that she would do it. And now she does it better than everyone.”
Asked if it was love at first sight, Mr. Nwoko replied: “I like what I saw. There are many girls, but beyond what is seen, she met everything I was looking for. So if I meet Regina again, I will marry her again.”
Similarly, in October 2019, Regina Daniels justified her decision to marry the politician by saying that they both shared common interests, including a love of swimming.
Long before she was romantically involved with Mr. Nwoko, the beautiful Nollywood actress was an internet sensation due to her obsession with cars and innovative tattoos.
Mr. Nwoko has had a long-standing affair with Nollywood and has bankrolled some movie projects in the past.
