Famed Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, has shared his two cents on Moroccan footballer, Achraf Hakimi’s divorce scandal.
Achraf Hakimi, who is considered one of the highest-earning players in Ligue 1, has been trending across social media platforms following the drama that unfolded after his wife, Hiba Abouk, called for a divorce.
Hiba, with whom he shares two children, had demanded half of his fortune but suffered a severe shock when she discovered that he had no property in his name.
Apparently, Hakimi had put all of his wealth and assets under his mother’s name, so technically, he doesn’t own any assets and is under no obligation to give anything to his wife.
The news caused a massive stir on social media, with many people praising Achraf Hakimi for protecting his property from his wife, Hiba Abouk.
In response, Peter Okoye expressed disappointment with those celebrating Hakimi’s “victory”, saying that staying single is better than marrying a woman they don’t trust.
He further stated that unless he wants his wife to suffer after their divorce, Hakimi’s actions are not commendable.
The 41-year-old singer wrote on his Instastory,
“#MvOwnViewsAndOpinion…I don’t understand why most men are rejoicing over this Hakimi story. Like I don’t get it.
The truth is bitter but needs to be told. If you don’t trust her then don’t marry as simple as that.
Or are you expecting your wife to surfer after divorce?”
