Popular Nollywood actress and mother of two, Regina Daniels, has claimed that the Nigerian film industry is a danger zone for young girls.
The mother-of-two made the claim in a video she shared on her official Instagram page while sharing her encounter with a 14-year-old makeup artist she recently met on a film set.
According to her, after getting engaged to the little girl, the 14-year-old admitted that she usually spends the nights with different people in their hotel rooms, some of whom take advantage of her.
Regina said she is very concerned for the little girl as she also entered the industry as a young girl and is aware of the dangers of the industry for a child.
Regina, who declared Nollywood a danger zone, recalled how her mother and actress, Rita Daniels, protected her from sexual abuse from film directors in the industry as a child.
She said that after hearing about the girl’s plight, she enrolled her in a boarding school in Delta state and was surprised to see how well she did in her entrance examination.
Regina Daniels slammed her colleagues, who had previously turned a blind eye to the girl, and begged them to oppose child labor from now on.
She noted that she is also committed to fighting any film producer who involves young children in their films.
Sharing the video on her Instagram page, she wrote, “DISCLAIMER!! This goes to celebrities and movie producers. Please say NO to child Labour? And keep the industry secure.”
