Popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, has announced that he decided to relinquish his admission to the University of Lagos due to the eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
He revealed this in an interview with Kiss FM Radio, stating that he had moved on and informed his mother of his decision.
Recall that in January 2022, Rema announced on the microblogging platform, Twitter, that he got admission into UNILAG.
He tweeted;
“What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag? Lol, Mom said I still need to get a degree sigh, oh well see you guys in class!”
Explaining why he never resumed studies at the higher institution, Rema said he wanted to pursue part-time studies and music, but the strike ruined his plans.
The Afrobeats singer went on to say that despite her early opposition, his mother now supports his decision to focus on music.
