A student of the Yobe State University (YSU) Damaturu, Maryam Lawan Goroma died shortly after writing an examination.
Maryam Lawan Goroma, who was studying chemistry at the university, reportedly collapsed on Thursday evening, April 27th, and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A classmate of the deceased, Bukar Maisandari, who confirmed the tragic incident on Facebook, said Maryam was in good health before her death.
“Innaa Lillaahi Wa Innaa Ilaihir Raaji’uun. I received with a heavy heart the news of the sudden death of our classmate Maryam Lawan Goroma. She was healthy and hearty until today afternoon when she suddenly collapsed and was confirmed dead shortly. May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings. May Al-Jannah Firdausi be her final abode. My deepest sympathy to her family & friends and to all my Chemical Colleagues. May Allah give you comfort to bear this loss. Ameen,” he wrote.
However, a friend, identified simply as Abubakar Zaid, said she complained of abdominal pain during the examination.
Maryam Lawan Goroma will be buried today, April 28th, at her family home in Sabon Fegi, Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
Her friends and family have taken to their respective social media pages to mourn her sudden death.

In other news, a 25-year-old woman, identified simply as Mirabel Ladi Agada Abraham, was brutally killed by one or more unknown assailants in Abuja.
Mirabel Ladi Agada Abraham was reported missing on Facebook by a certain Abdullahi Haruna when she failed to return home after leaving her place of work in Gwarimpa on Friday, April 7th.
According to him, they launched a search for her but did not find her for days until she was found dead along Gwarimpa Road a week later. She was allegedly stabbed by an as-yet unidentified assailant and her body mutilated. (Continue reading here)
