A former meta-recruiter who owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has revealed that she was paid $190,000 a year for doing nothing.
In a recent video posted on TikTok, Maddie Macho, a job influencer and job coach, said she misses her job at the tech giant because she gets paid a lot of money for doing nothing.
Reflecting on her six-month stint at Meta in 2021, the recruiter revealed that she wasn’t allowed to hire anyone in the first six months, so she was just coasting.
“When I was working at Meta and I was a recruiter and we weren’t expected to hire anyone for the first six months, even the first year.
“This is something they tell you when you start. That really blew my mind, I was like, perfect, I’m just going to ride this out for a year,” she said.
However, Maddie Macho explained that she spent a lot of time going through the company’s “rigorous” onboarding process.
She added,
“We had so many team meetings. Why are we meeting? We’re not hiring anybody! Also, I was on a team where everybody was new so none of us were hiring anybody. We were all just trying to figure out things none of us knew the answer to. I’d ask my boss and she’d be like ‘I don’t know’ cos she was there too.”
Her video comes just days after Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to lay off 10,000 more employees after laying off 11,000 employees in November 2022.
