Upcoming Nollywood actress, Bella Ebinum, has said she’s tired of starring in village films and would rather play better roles.

She said this in response to the public outcry that erupted after actors from Asaba, including herself, were rejected at the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

It is worth recalling that the organizers of the awards ceremony have been accused of not recognizing actors based in eastern and southern parts of Nigeria, such as Destiny Etiko, Yul Edochie, and Junior Pope, and failing to nominate them to any award category.

After the blast, Bella went online to defend the AMVCA, stating that they do not recognize Asaba-based actors and producers because of the quality of the films they produce.

She said they enjoyed producing films with the same scripts reused, adding that she is tired of constantly starring in village and witch movies.

In addition, Bella Ebinum encouraged producers to create impactful films with compelling storylines as this could potentially lead to recognition at future awards shows.

In her words, “Do good movies; every time you people will keep repeating the same stories. I’m tired of acting in village movies; let’s upgrade. When you upgrade, they will recognize you, people. I don’t blame them for not recognizing you; just do good movies.”
