Nollywood actress, Esther Nwachukwu, has opined that the Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by a person, was being overhyped.
Hilda Baci, from Akwa Ibom state, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by a person on Monday, May 15th, after beating the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian Chef, Lata Tondon in 2019.
After four days of non-stop cooking, Hilda set a new Guinness World Record of 100 hours for the longest cooking time by a person when she completed the cooking marathon on Monday evening, May 15th.
Her achievement was widely celebrated by Nigerians, including President Muhammadu Buhari and President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, in a video shared on her official Instagram page, actress Esther Nwachukwu expressed her opinion that Hilda was being over-praised.
In her opinion, Hilda’s accomplishment was not exceptional, as there are other Nigerians, including herself who are capable of achieving the same feat.
“So, guys, it’s not only Hilda who knows how to cook. You guys are just praising Hilda. What did she even do? What did Hilda Baci do that you guys are praising her as if she’s the only person who knows how to cook in this world?
“Do you know that we have people in this country who know how to cook even more [than Hilda]? We can stand for 100 hours or even longer and cook nonstop. And that’s me. I can stand for millions of hours and cook non-stop,” she said.

Nigerian dancer Kaffy, who broke the Guinness World Record for “Longest Dance Party” with her dance group in 2006 after they danced for 55 hours and 40 minutes, has also confirmed that it takes up to two weeks for a record to be verified.
“Yes, this is standard procedure! Even during our own, we had to wait for almost two weeks for them to review the videos and all records before they confirm. A lot of people attempt and succeed in beating timelines but don’t get verified because of technical errors. It’s not Hilda’s portion IJN!” She wrote.
