A Federal high court in Bayelsa state has approved Ikenga Ukaegbu as the Labour Party Candidate for the forthcoming Imo State Governorship election.

Ukaegbu’s re-election as the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate in Imo State’s governorship election has sparked an unprecedented level of interest and debate. Given his stature in the state’s political landscape, his emergence as the party’s candidate could herald a change in power dynamics in the state.

Ikenga Ukaegbu has a wealth of experience and a commitment to public service that make him an appealing option for Imo State voters who want to see real change. The Labour Party in Imo State has won the governorship in the upcoming off-cycle election, with Ikenga Ukaegbu being declared the rightful candidate.

The court ruled on Friday that Ukaegbu was the rightful candidate, having won the governorship ticket in the primaries held by Lamidi Apapa’s electoral panel on April 16. The court also ordered the INEC to upload the names of the candidates who emerged through the “valid primaries” held in Imo State, Bayelsa State, and Kogi State, which were conducted by Julius Abure’s faction of the LP. Akujobi, the Imo state chairman, praised the court’s ruling as a real reflection of the party’s values. The election is set for November 11.

He expressed his congratulations to Ukaegbu and expressed his assurance that he and the party would prevail in the upcoming governorship election.
