Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu, better known as Ric Hassani, has finally cleared his alleged relationship with fellow singer, Waje.
Sometime in 2021, reports circulated on social media that the popular Nigerian singers were in a romantic relationship and were about to get married.
Waje further fueled the dating rumor when she shared a loved-up photo of herself and Ric Hassani to her Instagram page, captioning it “It’s time”.
Omawumi, Waje’s friend and colleague, also hinted that the two were getting married in a comment she left under the post.
“Besto Asoebi Loading ehhhhh! Congratulations guys @officialwaje,” she wrote.
However, during a recent interview, Ric debunked the rumors of an affair with Waje.
Speaking about their relationship during an interview on HOTFM, he noted that they are good friends and not dating.
When asked why he and Waje did the engagement stunt in 2021, he noted that it was just a cruise and it was Waje’s idea.
“I am not in a relationship with Waje. We were just catching a cruise. It was Waje, this was completely Waje. I found out about our love at the same time. I was just staying quiet to see what would happen, and it was interesting”, he said.
