The Lagos State Police Command raided the home of embattled singer, Seun Kuti in the Ikeja area of the state on Tuesday evening, May 16th.
The command duly obtained a warrant to search Seun Kuti’s home, according to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
He said the action was part of an ongoing investigation into the singer’s alleged assault on a police officer.
Keep in mind that the musician was seen slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos in a video that went viral on respective social media platforms on May 13th.
However, the controversial singer claimed in his defense that the police officer tried to kill him and his family members.
“We got a duly issued search warrant, which we went to execute,” Benjamin Hundeyin revealed on social media.
An eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous claimed that the police took the musician away during the search and confiscated his wife’s phone in the process.
“The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs. They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti”. Punch quoted the witness as saying.
